MerGeo.com Adventure Racing Team
Who we are
Team Mergeo.com is based in Seattle, WA. We are an athletically diverse group, who came to the sport having competed in disciplines from ultra running to orienteering to mountain biking and much more, and these experiences should help the team to compete as a top coed team in Northwest and national adventure races. The team also strives to give back to the adventure racing and outdoor sports communities by organizing races and training opportunities and by welcoming new adventurers to the sport.
Our Philosophy and GoalWe race because we are thrilled by the adventure: intimately experiencing the world under the power of our own bodies and using some simple equipment. We compete because we love the thrill of the game--matching skills with our comrades in adventure--but we also seek to get the most out of ourselves. Knowing this, we take a calm approach and seek to enjoy the odyssey that we have prepared for through our discipline. It is our goal to compete at the highest level possible, to promote the growing sport of Adventure Racing in the Northwest, to perform well for ourselves in every race we enter, to inspire others, and to further develop the sport. Adventure RacingAdventure racing is a relatively young sport that started in the 1990s, including a group of outdoor and endurance sports such as running, orienteering, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering, rappelling, Tyrolean traverse, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, caving, swimming and in-line skating. The extremely physically demanding races also require the participant to be skillful in all the disciplines, and moreover, teamwork is one of the most important skills of the sport. Team dynamics, such as solving problems, overcoming unforeseen difficulties and helping a teammate in need, are essential, since the entire team has to travel the course and arrive at the finish together to complete the race ranked.
